Just a Tuesday

Not too much has been going on since my last post. Yesterday, Bayleigh came home from school with her first Math worksheet--adding by zeros. Today she came home with a worksheet adding by ones. Bayleigh LOVES Math. She is constantly asking her daddy to write her out Math problems to practice. Her love stems from Colin learning last year in Kindergarten himself. I can't tell you how proud Larry and I are that her love for learning just seems to keep growing. I have noticed that she struggles and even seems to be getting worse, with writing her numbers backwards. Like the actual number backwards and then with her "teenagers" she tends to write 21, 31, 41, etc. That I can kind of understant because to say the word--fifteen for instance, you are thinking the five first. SOOOO, I kind of get that, but to write the five in fifteen backwards is driving me nuts. :) We have been practicing, practicing, practicing. That's all we know to do. It will click. She will get it. My good friend bought her a crayola dry erase board and it has been WONDERFUL in our quest to get the numbers right. It is fun for her to write on and she wants to do the work. Because--paper is boring, don't ya know. :) Other than that, not too much is up. It is "K" week as well--coming up with "K" words in the car proved to be a bit of a struggle as well, but she did it. She came up with 10 words for her collage. Now we just have to find the clipart on the computer so she can glue it all together.
That is pretty much it. All is well here. We are all happy, healthy, and doing great. One really can't ask for much more than that. Hope you are all doing well too! Thanks for checking in.
Love,
Jenn

Thanksgiving & Weekend After

Thanksgiving came and was the typical Thanksgiving. The Burris Family was late as always LOL--hey, the way I look at it--it's sort of become a tradition. LOL! We ate, we tore into our Black Friday fliers, and then we were quickly exhausted from the turkey. :) The company was great. My mom, Larry's dad, Uncle Danny, Steve, Kim, Whitney, Kaitlynn, Chuck, Cruz, and Katie all came over for dinner.
It was really hard to get into the spirit and "jolliness" of Thanksgiving knowing that I single handedly ruined this Thanksgiving and every single holiday to follow for my mother. Most of you already know that I have made the choice to not have a relationship with my sister. Please don't ask. And please don't leave comments of How could you? Life's Too Short. Please don't leave comments in support of my decision and or not in support of my decision, because even though I feel it is what is best for me at this time, the loss of anyone by choice is not necessarily a good thing. It's just what is right for me. I already know all of this and I still stand by my decision. The ONLY part of this choice that bothers me is that I have ripped my moms family apart. That's not something I am proud of and believe me, I know my mom is not happy with my choice. For that I am sorry.
I do have to say though that our Thanksgiving Day was a good one. I think we all enjoyed each others company and differences were set aside to enjoy the day. For that I am very thankful.
BLACK FRIDAY! After eating dinner we tore out our newspapers and started searching for the best Black Friday deals so that some Christmas shopping could be knocked out of the way. I think I, of course, "needed" to go to the most stores for my gift ideas. Wal-Mart is always our first stop. They changed things up a bit and started some sales at 12:01AM. I don't think I am a fan of this new change. Bayleigh and I always go to Kim's house and catch a couple hours sleep before heading to Wal-Mart in the wee hours of the morning. Not this year with the changes though. Bayleigh and I got to Kim's house and due to a terrible miscommunication between the two of us we spent the next hour and a half in the truck waiting for her to arrive at home. OOOPS! No worries though. Once she got there we changed our clothes and headed into town with no sleep--Not a first for Kim and I! LOL! I know I personally was able to get everything I went to get and then some. I would call that a success. :) I had a lady yell at me in the Target line to take my "baby" home. Let me just set the record straight here...First, My 6 year old is NOT a baby to ANYONE but ME! Second, My 6 year old has NEVER missed a Black Friday shopping experience since she has been in this world--yes, she was 2 weeks old her first shopping trip. and Third, if you are a stranger--DO NOT yell at me and tell me how to parent MY child because I will clearly yell back at you what I think. :) Thanks! (If you can't tell, that small section of my morning did not go over well with a sleep deprived momma)

This is Bayleigh in the mall running on no sleep. She was such a trooper! She did mention to my mom that she does not like Black Friday shopping. LOL! (To be 100% honest, Bayleigh doesn't like shopping anyways).
Saturday morning Larry, Bayleigh, and I loaded up and headed south to meet our two different friends new babies both born within 1 week of each other. It is so funny to see them and hold them knowing that Bayleigh was even smaller than them at one point in her life. It just doesn't seem possible. Both mommies are doing wonderfully and both babies are cute as ever!!!

First came Drew's house. Meet Nolan--I think he looks like his daddy. You can see the pride on Stacia and Drew's faces when they look at him and talk about him. Congrats to you both!

Next came going down the road to Drew's sister's house to meet her new baby. Jennifer was still a little sore. I can't blame her--she didn't even get to come home from the hospital until Thanksgiving day.

Meet Baby Ethan (TINY), and this is his big brother Benjamin. He is such a cutie as well. I of course got the honor of bringing Ben a sucker--Goob always did the same for Bayleigh when she was little too. :) He LOVED it!!! I did give him his bath after getting him all sticky--I'm not that mean. :)

Today, we used our last day of our weekend to get our Christmas tree put up. It was fun--and glittery!
This is Bayleigh putting her 2010 ornament on the tree in the perfect place! CUTE!

This is a close up of the 2010 ornament!

And this is our finished product all lit up at night! :) We are officially ready for Christmas!

As you can see from this blog we have had a very busy last four days, but many memories were made and that is what the holidays are all about! I hope you had a terrific Thanksgiving as well! Thanks for checking in!

Love,

Jenn

GREAT Friends & Grandparents Day!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010 I went to dinner with my 3 AMAZING friends to have a nice mommy night out. We try to do this several times each year and the break from everyday life is always much needed and so special. The saying goes that in life, if you can count your number of true friends on one hand then you are doing great! It's safe to say that these 3 friends will always be in that count. I LOVE them! :) You know you are GREAT friends when you can look at each other and without saying a word burst into laughter knowing what the other is thinking. This happened a couple of times this night! Heck, to be honest I was still literally laughing out loud the next day!

I am also lucky enough to have another hand that I can count my family as friends as well. That hand most certainly includes my mom, my aunt Mary, Larry's cousin Kim, and my Sister-In-Law Rachel, and Larry. I am SO blessed! :)

For our dinner we went to the new Italian Place in Shelbyville, Panzarotti's. It was WONDERFUL! You know I am telling the truth because I am not a huge fan of Italian food. It is a VERY small place, but the service was great--gropping and all! LOL! (Inside joke between the 4 of us)! I'll tell you, if you set your fork down they are on you like flies on horse.....ugh, never mind--you get my point. Let's just say they strive to keep your table clean and they do a great job! :)

I so stole this off of Jennifer's page. She was the only one to bring a camera. I know--I'm losing my touch, huh! I am thankful she had my back though. :) So, for those of you that don't know...this is Kristen, Jennifer, Jennifer, and Jennifer. NO! That is not a typing error on my part--out of the 4 of us, 3 are Jennifer's! :)

Tuesday, November 23, 2010 was Grandparent's Day for the Kindergarten Kids at Waldron. Bayleigh was BEYOND excited for the day. As a matter of fact, when I picked her up from school Monday, the first thing she said was...so seriously...MOM! Tomorrow is the BIIIIIG DAY! She could hardly wait! Upon me waking up to my alarm I found Bayleigh awake and waiting for me to wake on Tuesday morning. She peaked over my shoulder and said mommy, it's GRANDPARENTS DAY! The BIG day is HERE!

Unfortunately my mom was unable to attend due to starting a new and better job. Larry's dad was also unable to attend because of work as well. I was, at first, totally bummed that Bayleigh would have nobody. Her Nanny and Papa have been under the weather and I knew with it being scheduled for November that the cold would be bad for them to get out in. :( My sadness didn't last long at all however. Our Aunt Mary was able to fill in. Mary has a great granddaughter that is just a bit older than Bayleigh and so since Bayleigh was very little Mary said, Ok, Mimi--Aunt Mary--Let's just go with Mimi to keep it simple. SO, Aunt Mary became Mimi to Bayleigh and was willing and able to step up to the role as well. . :) I was never so Thankful. Could you imagine the heartbreak Bayleigh and I both would have felt had nobody been there for her big special day. :( I don't even like thinking about it. The day included a performance of songs and slight dances from the morning K class and the all day K class together. The concert was followed up with a speaking from each student about why they loved going to their grandparents class. Bayleigh mentioned making biscuits and gravy at my moms house, ((They are yummy)), and Milk/Coffee and cookies. The snacks were then followed up by a showing off of the Kindergarten classroom and pictures with the student and grandparent. I am so happy that Aunt Mary could be there! It sounded like such a great show! Below are a couple of pictures she got of the morning concert! Mimi, Thank you so much for going and being there to support your Bayleigh Boo! We LOVE you!

On Just a slight side note. I would like to mention that I have deleted my Facebook account. I was and then I couldn't figure out how because it was telling me another user was using my account. Then I wasn't and I was just going to practice self discipline and limit my time on. And then this morning I found myself right back on there. Then my feelings got hurt yet again because of something I read and I thought--This is stupid. I am wasting my time on a website that gets me stirred up and upset I had figure out how to delete it. Well, come to find out, I had started a fan page a long time ago and because I was the adminstrator I had to click a specific box to allow me to delete the account. I am not saying it will be forever. Heck it might even be not long at all, but right now I needed to do this for me. Things are not 100% great for me due to decisions I made for my life and I am struggling some with my choices because I know how much they are hurting another person I love more than anything, and Facebook proved to be another reminder of just how much I am hurting that person. :(

SO, that is what has been going on so far this week! Tomorrow of course is THANKSGIVING! I hope you and your family have a super terrific day! Then BLACK FRIDAY! That sounds like from reading the fliers will begin about 9 or 10 on Thanksgiving night! WHOA! Midnight sales!!! YEAH! I CAN'T WAIT! :)
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Love,
Jenn

And So it Begins!

Hello fellow readers! Not too much has been going on in the Rutherford home. The weekend was very relaxing and quiet.
Larry took off Saturday morning for a hunting trip with our cousin Steve. He unfortunatly didn't bring home the goods. He did see a buck, but it was too far away. He got a shot on a doe and thought for sure he hit it and after climbing down to find it he realized he hit a branch and missed. :( I know that is so frustrating for him. They stayed the night in a hotel so that they didn't have to get up so early, so it was just me and Bayleigh Boo. Bayleigh and I went to lunch with Kim and Kaitlynn, (Steve's wife and daughter). It was a good lunch, but Bayleigh's stomach ended up hurting and she felt sick so we skipped the original plan to shop. I think she just needed to go potty a couple of times because after doing so she was feeling better. Later that night we went back to town to get dog food and then came back and headed to bed.
Sunday, Bayleigh woke and wanted to spend the day with Grammy so she went over there. I stayed home and worked on knitting. Yes, you read that right--knitting. I thought myself by watching a YouTube video. It is relaxing and easier than I thought. :)
Tonight I have dinner with 3 of my incredibly wonderful girlfriends. They really are the SUPER BEST and I am so excited for the night out. OK, I say night, but it's more like a couple hours, but still...I am excited.
Tomorrow night I have to work late, so not much getting done tomorrow.
Wednesday night we will be preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner we will host. CAN'T WAIT! Then of course you have Thanksgiving followed by BLACK FRIDAY! I LOVE it!!!!
Just saying the word Thanksgiving makes me reflect on all that I am so thankful for. First and foremost I am thankful for God. He has become one of our very best friends. He loves us unconditionally. He is giving and forgiving all at the same time. He is the best listener any person could ask for. He is our protector and our guidance and without him we would all be nothing. God is Good. I am also SO very thankful for...
1. Larry and Bayleigh--they are simply the best.
2. My mom and Larry's dad--they are so wonderful, loving, and giving!
3. The rest of my family.
4. All of my terrific friends. I say my, but I should have said our--our terrific friends. We are blessed to have so many. :) We truly are blessed.
5. Our Health.--This has been a rough year, but luckily God has guided me into the right surgeons hands and I am doing absolutely wonderful. Larry and Bayleigh are healthy as well and for that I am thankful.
6. Our Home--it is so comforting to know I have a place to call home. A warm, dry roof over our heads. So many people have lost this comfort with the economy taking a nose dive. It is so sad.
7. Christmas music!--Last night I felt the holiday spirit creeping in on my a little earlier than expected. I downloaded several Christmas songs to my phone and in the process had to restrain myself from busting out a tune, so that Larry and Bayleigh could sleep. LOL!
8. Our Jobs!--We are very lucky to still be working. So many people out there would give anything to find a job, but they are so few, far, and in between. I know Larry really loves his job and the people he works for and with. They honestly have been wonderful to our family. And my families are so great! I LOVE my babies with all of my heart. And yes, I know Colin will be 7 in March, but he will always be my baby. ;) I miss my Macy. I miss my Lucus. I miss my Maddie. I miss my Destiny, Damon, and Kolton. It is sad when they grow up and move on. I just got to see Miss Macy at Bayleigh's party! That was fun. My Lucus went to school with Bayleigh, but has now moved away. :( I need to call Heather and Amanda and check in on Miss Maddie and Destiny, Damon, and Kolton. It's hard to believe those 3 are growing SO fast. They started it all. I miss them so much! I do get to keep up with My Miss Maddie on Facebook, but it's not the same. I find it amazing how such tiny being grip your heart so tightly. Awwwww! I love my babies. :)
9. Cameras and Photographs.--What a remarkable invention to document such wonderful memories we make. I love to look at a photo and reflect on what was going on when it was taken. It makes my heart smile. :)
10. LIFE--I am thankful for my blessed life! Every last drop of it. Life is GOOD! :)

I hope after reading this you take the time to reflect on what you are thankful for. I know at times things can seem so very difficult, but think about all of the little things that add up so quickly. :) If I don't get the chance to blog again before Thanksgiving, I hope your holiday is spectacular!
Thank you for reading and checking in with us yet again!
Much Love,
Jennifer

6 Year Well Child Check Up!

Today, November 15th 2010, I took Bayleigh for her well child visit to the doctor and to get a flu shot! Bayleigh weights 40.0 lbs and is 40.5 inches tall! :) She was EXACTLY 40 inches tall in June so she has grown a 1/2 inch since then! We LOVE her new doctor in Greenfield. We opted to leave Shelbyville because they can't manage to keep a doctor around longer than a year. This new doctor is her 6th doctor and she is 6 years old....NO THANKS! I am tired of no stability there. This new doctor was wonderful! She really spent a lot of time talking to us and getting to know Bayleigh. She spent so much time with us that I was actually thinking...my goodness she is going to be so far behind, but a couple of my friends told me that that is how it works there. I LOVE IT!!!!! We barely waited any time in the waiting room too. And we barely wait between the nurse and the doctor in the room as well! :) Bayleigh's flu shot went great! She didn't even cry. She was on the verge and I cut her off and said proudly that she didn't cry and she was happy! By me saying that it was over before she knew it! :) She has to go back for a booster shot in 4 weeks!
Our baby is certainly growing up! Thanks checking in again!
Love,
Jenn

6th Birthday Party 11.13.10

Saturday, November 13th, 2010, we celebrated Bayleigh's 6th Birthday at the Waldron Baptist Church.
The turnout was absolutely amazing. We had so many family and friends there that when first welcoming everyone to the party and saying the prayer I got really nervous and was just overwhelmed with absolute PRIDE that SO many wonderful people had shown up to celebrate our wonderful daughter. I had a really hard time keeping myself together. :)
We decided this year we were celebrating with a circus/carnival theme. I thought it was great! I started the night before making the homemade cotton candy from jolly ranchers and then decided that it might get hard so I got up early that morning and made the rest. We also made air popped popcorn and put it into theme bags. I had found circus ducks at a party supply store and put them on the tables for decor and each of the kids got their own clown noses as well. I also had put the cotton candy and some animal crackers on the tables for people to take if they wanted. Simple, but still themed. :) I also hired clowns....more to come on that later! :)

Our popcorn bags and ducks!!!Papa, Bayleigh, and Grammy!

Daddy, Mommy, and Bayleigh!

Our clown noses!
Bayleigh and her "Kimmie Cake". Kim has made Bayleigh's cakes each year and they are wonderful!!!! This year, the cake had an accident getting to the church, but the front was mostly ok. It was still OH SO YUMMY! Thanks Kim!

Sassy Frass and Bayleigh

Bayleigh realizing she got her Just Like Me American Girl Doll from Aunt Rachel, Uncle Eric, and Max. She even has her ears pierced JUST LIKE BAYLEIGH! Her name is Melissa and is most definately the favorite gift from the party!
Bayleigh and Melissa! BFF'S!

Her Justin Beiber shirts and CD. My LANTA! It is already starting--the musical crushes!

Her Liv NutMeg horse from Grammy. She kept begging for this, but she was calling it the NutBAG horse and we couldn't figure out what she was talking about until viewing the Wal-Mart toy book!
Bayleigh and Papa! I bought this with the intent on getting Bayleigh's picture with each of the guests, BUT! 1. It was TOO chaotic and 2. It glared from the flash and the lighting in the church was terrible. I know that some moms got some pictures of their kids and the kids did have a good time playing with it. Too bad my initial idea didn't work out. The concept was great! :)

Big Buff Bayleigh!

The clowns, Sassy Frass and Funny Bonz, were hired to do face painting, balloon animals, and magic tricks. They flat blew me away! Each child had fun with their balloons. A LOT of swords were made, as well as puppies and flowers too! Bayleigh got a really cute penguin. I thought that Bayleigh was going to get a big face paint job and the others just on their cheeks and to my delight--Sassy went all out on the kids and they all got very elaborate faces! See Below!

Bayleigh's Tiara!
Max's Snake!

Bayleigh and Princess Cendall!

Penelope, (I like her butterfly the best), Funny Bonz, Bayleigh, Elliot, and Loriann!

Hallie!
Hadlie
Hannah!
Bayleigh was the special helper for the magic show. Her magic words were "Hocus, Pocus, I Love You So Mocus"! SO CUTE!

WHAT?! Now, they are attached! (and a little bigger) ;)

Funny Bonz, Bayleigh, and Sassy Frass!
I HIGHLY recommend hiring Sassy and Funny for your next event. The kids adored them and you will definately get your money's worth! They were AMAZING!

This party ended up being one of the most chaotic parties I have thrown, but with that being said....It was also the BEST! I say chaotic only because I had planned SO much and wanted to do it in a timely manner that MY organization wasn't exactly what I had in mind to get things done, but it worked out for the best because while Sassy was painting faces, and Funny Bonz was doing balloons, Bayleigh opened up her gifts and the children were not crowed around the tables so I was able to get my photos. :) That made me a very happy mommy! The food was good, the company was GREAT, it was FUN! Bayleigh, Larry, and I want to Thank everyone that came and made it such a wonderful time! We are so blessed! SO, SO BLESSED! :) If you were able to make it, I hope you had a great time. Thank you so much!!! xoxoxo!

Thanks for Checking in! Until next blog...

Love, Jenn

Happy 6th Birthday Bayleigh!

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY BAYLEIGH!!!! Today was spent doing everything Bayleigh wanted to do. She woke up and wanted to go to Denny's to eat breakfast so we did. (Bayleigh, Daddy, Mommy, Grammy, and "Melissa"). After, we headed up to Greenwood Mall to buy her a Christmas dress. Sears and Penney's has dresses for the dolls that match the big girl dress. Since Bayleigh got an American Girl Doll at her party yesterday that purchase was a must! ((Thank you Aunt Rachel for "Melissa")! After walking around the mall Bayleigh wanted ice cream so we stopped at the food court for that. YUMMY! Next, Bay just wanted to come home. (We did too)! We spent the rest of the day just being together--doesn't get much better than that, right?! :)
I know you were probably thinking from my last post that party pictures would be up, but the lighting in the church was so horrible that I have do some quick editing first. Maybe tomorrow I can make that post--and it will have a ton of pictures! :)
Bayleigh,
Six years ago today, you came into this world and changed mommy and daddy's lives forever. You ARE our PRIDE and JOY. You make my heart beat. You are my every breath! We are SO proud to have you as our daughter. We are so blessed. You are smart, funny, caring, loving, giving, FuN, and delightful in every way! Words could never express how much we love you! I hope you had so much fun on your birthday and at your party yesterday. Remember, you promised to always be my baby?! Even when you're 40! You are not there yet, but I can safely say, Baby girl, Happy Birthday. Thank you for being so amazing in every way! We love you! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo! Love, Daddy and Mommy!
Check back soon for Party details! Until then...

11.11.10 6 year old pictures

It's no secret that I have been bitten by the photography bug! I have had a passion for photography for several years now. I LOVE any photo. It doesn't matter who or what the subject is, it is captivating to me. One year Larry bought me a digital slr camera for a holiday or special day and from then I have added lenses and photo editing programs and I don't do too shabby. I am VERY critical of my work and very hard on myself always. SO, I always take Bayleigh this time of year and have her pictures taken by a professional. This year, money is tight and I decided that I needed to hunker down and just do it. Yesterday, November 11, 2010 just happened to be an expectionally unseasonal November day. It was gorgeous out so it was THE day. My good friend Jodi Kuhn has been wanting to get together and head to a park and take photos together, but we never had the chance. She was available as was I so perfect right?! More detail about Jodi is below. ;) She is pretty amazing...if I do say so myself! :)

Below is probably one of my FAVS from my shoot.

My good friend Jodi Kuhn also has a passion for photography and is actually working on getting her business up and going. She came with us to take pictures of Bayleigh and below are some of her shots she took and edited. Jodi is an all natural light photographer and does everything in manual mode on her camera, which is what I strive to be able to learn. She used her smaller lens during the shoot and I opted to use my largest lens. It is amazing the difference in pictures based on lens, settings, and photo editing programs! She did a very beautiful job and if you are interested in her contact information for a photo shoot sometime let me know! Enjoy!

And THIS ONE below is my MOST FAVORITE of the WHOLE shoot! Didn't Jodi do a BEAUTIFUL job?!

Tomorrow is the big 6th birthday party. My next blog will be all about that and then on Sunday I will have a 6 year old. WOW! Thanks for checking in!
Love,
Jenn

Willie Worms and Baby Memories!

Typical Indiana weather has arrived!!! :) One day it is warm, sunny, and beautiful, and the next day it is FREEZING, sunny, and beautiful! LOL! You just never know what you are going to get. If I've said it once, I've said it thousands of times--I am NOT a fan of the cold and dreary weather, but I will admit that the first hard snowfall, worthy of snowmen, snow forts, snow angels, and snow ball fights are SO worth the fun and perfect photo opportunities!!! :) It is said around here you can judge how winter is going to be based on the Willie Worms...

LOOKS LIKE IT'S GONNA BE A COLD ONE!
Our home is still in party planning mode at this point. Final purchases such as table cloths, table decor, and supplies have been bought. Food has been ordered. Kimmie is working on the famous Kimmie cake that MAKES Bayleigh's birthday parties. She always goes above and beyond!!! (I think she must really love Bay). :)
Larry's dad bought Bayleigh 4 tickets to the Ringling Brothers circus that is coming to town in December. Bayleigh is SUPER excited as am I. She is taking Max with her and while sharing the news with Max Larry said that Rachel could have his ticket so us mommies are going to take them and make it a full day event!!! First we are going to hit the Indiana State Museum (I think that is what it is), to see the train that used to be in the department store. Then we are going to lunch. Next will be the circus. We will then follow the circus up with a carriage ride downtown! I don't know who is more excited--the children or Rachel and ME!!!!! Looks like some really exciting blog posts are in our future so keep checking in!
I wanted to share the following picture of Bayleigh and Max from when they were younger. I have to apologize for the poor quality because it is clearly a picture of a picture taken by my cell phone just so I could put it on Facebook. These two children mean the absolute world to me! They are the best of friends and LOVE spending time with each other, every chance they get.

Until next blog!!
Love,
Jenn
