Kindergarten Field Trip 5.26.11

My pictures on this blog are out of order, but you'll still get how the day went!
On Thursday, May 26th, 2011 the entire Kindergarten class went on a field trip. We went to Edinburg (sp?), Indiana to Not Just Popcorn popcorn factory, the library, and the park.
The day started late due to a 2 hour delay thanks to bad weather and a tornado hitting Morristown. Our schools are in a district together so because they had no power we got in on the delay as well. That didn't break my heart because I was up til early hours of the morning watching the radar on TV.
Bayleigh and 3 other of her classmates ended up with the Full day kids so that the groups were somewhat even. That was fine with us. Our group hit the factory first and then the library...hence the out of order pictures and then we all met up together for lunch in the park and then headed home. The day was gorgeous!!!

Here is a picture of our group listening to stories about popcorn from the librarian. I was surprised how well they all did considering it was almost 12:30 when we got done and I know I was sure hungry.

Here is Lemon Lime popcorn being made. The flavoring is a hard candy coating. Pretty neat.

Bayleigh standing in front of already made popcorn. They have a bag that holds 28 pounds of popcorn. It was HUGE!

Here the students are watching the coating going on. After they got to try a sample and they were very interested in that!

This is the popcorn after it pops. it goes through this machine that filters out the seeds. The seeds are then fed to the birds and chipmunks.

Just below bayleigh is a bag that they popcorn falls into. The factory is VERY small, but very neat. We ended up with free samples of Caramel and Confetti that includes, Blue Raspberry, Lemon, Orange, Grape, Green Apple, and Strawberry. I purchased Peanut Butter and Jelly (grape), Dill Pickle (the #2 selling flavor just below Caramel), Chicago Cheddar--gross, Banana Split that included icecream, banana, chocolate, strawberry, and pineapple and then we bought Larry Blue and while for colts colors and was icecream and blue raspberry flavored. Other than the Dill and Chicago Cheddar we just purchased sample bags. It was good.

This was the first time the school took a field trip here, but I am pretty sure that due to the success of our trip an annual trip is in the future for other students.

Love,

Jenn
