Class Halloween Party!

Today, Friday, October 29th, 2010 was Bayleigh's Kindergarten class Halloween party! Me, Jill (Cendall's mom), Joy (Ethan's mom), and Chanda (Sara's mom), all were the room mothers for the party. Lezile (Hannah's mom) also stayed and helped and another mom came a bit later and helped as well, but I didn't know who she was.
When we got there Mrs. Dalley was reading a story to the kids. Joy's project she brought in was tiny pumpkins for each of the children to paint, put stickers on, and googly eyes. They were really cute and the kids all had fun with them! Next, us moms helped the kids into their costumes. That was a bit chaotic, but non the less fun. After dressing Jill played a hot potato game with the kids. They all sat in a circle and passed a ball around. Once the music stopped they got to draw a prize out of the pumpkin and head my way for my game of Pin the nose on the Jack-O-Lantern. It was fun because I blew up a picture of Mrs. Dalley from the school website and put it on a pair of sunglasses to make a blindfold. It was funny and the kids looked hilarious! After the nose went on then I passed out treat bags. Once our games were done the entire class got to parade around the school to show off their costumes, ending in a group shot with Mrs. Dalley--the real one--up by the front office.
There were many activities crammed into a short amount of time, but it was a great couple hours! All in all each child ended up with a few treat bags, and even cups full of goodies as well.
I more than likely won't be able to blog before Halloween, so everyone have a terrific Halloween. Stay safe and get lots of CANDY! :)

Tooth Fairy In THE HOUSE!

The tooth fairy has arrived. Not for the real deal, but for Halloween. As far as Bayleigh is concerned, it counts. She is so ready to lose her teeth just like Max, Colin, and Penelope. :)

And the her teeth still are NOT loose!

Goodbye Tube! Hello Zoo!

Ok, so it is Thursday, but let me start with the beginning of the week. Monday I had a doctor's appointment at 8:15 to check on my tube from having my gallbladder removed. Luckily it was taken out! The site where the tube went in was infected and painful so once he got it out it felt much better! My stitches in the other 3 incision points where removed as well. I really like Dr. Vierra. He is SUPER intellegent and very funny. He is great at what he does. The removal was not the most pleasant experience that I have had, but he kept if fun and tried to keep my mind off of it. Little did I know...there was like 12 inches of tube in there and so it took longer than I thought to come out.
Tuesday, Bayleigh got her first official report card. She is doing great! Of course being Kindergarten there are no letter grades, but rather just markings showing what they know. There was an "A" Applebee's card in there for her to get a free shake, soooooo I am guessing all those marks equal A's. :)
Wednesday-Friday this week is Fall break so no school. YEAH! No traveling to the school two times a day. Thankfully my wonderful friend Jennifer takes her reducing what would be a three times per day to a two! Thank you Jennifer--You are the best! I only had Trent Wednesday so Bayleigh, Trent, and I decided to hit the town for time out of the house. We went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and then Bayleigh and I each got our hair cut. She just got hers trimmed to take care of the dead ends, but it was the first time for her to get her head in the sink for a washing that she was a bit intimidated by, but ultimately loved. When it came time for my hair cut she pretended to be a "barber" as well with the empty chair beside me.
Today, Thursday, Bayleigh, Trent, Mason, and I hit the Indianapolis Zoo and my dumb butt forgot the camera! arggggggg! We had a wonderful day. It was chilly, but beautiful. The animals were really active as well. Bayleigh even got bit by a duck! It was funny, she says he "nibbled" on her! She also got to pet the Kangle (sp?) and a black rat snake that the lady told her could be found in her backyard. UMMMMMM! NOOOOOOO! It can't! and NOOOOOOO! It better not! Momma is NOT a snake fan at all! All three were absolutely wonderful! I love being able to take them. Sunday we are supposed to go back with Melanie and the kids to participate in Zoo Boo. It was going on today as well so the boys got a kick of seeing the kids in their costumes. They don't start the activities until 2 and I was too cold to go thru the zoo again to gather candy, so I treated the kids to Dairy Queen afterwards. OK, so let's be honest...I have a mad addiction to their Pumpkin Pie Blizzards right now and it was SO a trip for me, but I had just spent the chilly day with three kids alone at the zoo...I sorta earned that treat! ;)
So, that's what's been going on this week. Tomorrow is a long day for me. Mel's kids don't come until the afternoon so I HAVE to spend the morning cleaning! My house is just stupidly gross right now! I also need to finish Bayleigh's costume for Halloween. I need to find some pink leggings or something for her to wear bc the panty hose are not going to cut it with it being so cold. I also need to find her something to cover her arms. Indiana weather doesn't allow for costume planning. I remember freezing our rears off one year and sweating the next....I need a beach house so I can stop complaining about this cold. ;)
Hope all is well with you! Thanks again for checking in!

Jenn

Getting Ready to Par-TAY!

We really have not been doing too much of anything. Bayleigh's birthday party is going to be November 13th and so we have been getting ready for the big day. The theme this year will be Carnival. I purchased a popcorn machine years ago in anticipation for this party and then I just bought a cotton candy machine to boot! We had so much fun trying them out on Saturday. The popcorn machine is LOUD and shoots seeds and popcorn EVERYWHERE! It was hilarious. The cotton candy machine uses hard candy and you can only use 2 pieces at a time and you don't get very much out of it, but it is still yummy and fun. Looks like I'll be making cotton candy the night before to save time. I hired clowns for the party and then ordered clown noses for each of the kids. I can't wait. They are going to do magic, face paintings, and balloons! I opted to not do treat bags. It is SO expensive and so much hassle. The kids will still walk away with paint and balloons and clown noses as well.
Fall break is this week, so Bayleigh only has school two days this week! YEAH! I THINK I only have her and Trent Thursday and if that's the case we are going to try to do something fun.
Halloween is coming up too, so pictures very soon! Hope life is treating all of you as well! Thanks for checking in!

Plenty of Pics & Few Words

This blog is a catch up of things I missed. Sort of a random blog with few words and plenty of pictures! Let's begin!

We have the professional pictures back from Bayleigh's school picture day that was September 8th, 2010. Also, that day her friend Loriann came home from school with her and they decided to play dress up! So cute!

Kindergarten Hat Day was September 10th, 2010. What a perfect way to show off her adorable Minnie Ears!

September 25th, 2010 kicked off the Waldron Elementary PTO candy bar sales. I agreed to let Bayleigh sell a box and boy did she ever! She gets out of school at 10:45 and had her first box sold before 3:30 so I let her take the money in to get a second box! She was so cute and was SO proud of herself for selling so well! This is her set up on the porch in "lemonade stand fashion". Of course no sales came from this, but she did great door to door!

With the Benefit Walk that Bayleigh and I were supposed to participate in until my 5 day hospital stay coming, Larry and I decided to give Bayleigh her birthday gift early. She LOVES my iPod and Colin's MP3 player so we decided to get Bayleigh her own. We gave it to her On September 30th so that she would be able to use it during the walk. It is pretty cool. It plays music, duh, videos, FM radio, photos, and even has a voice recorder. I blind folded Bayleigh and recorded-"Bayleigh, this is your birthday gift from daddy and mommy. We love you very much". While blind folded I stuck it in her ears and played it. Before even seeing it she was a giggling mess thanking us over and over. She LOVES it! She was hugging us and telling us those were birthday hugs and we are quickly learning--the child can't carry a tune in a bucket, but it is very cute to watch her rock out with it!

And finally, This past Saturday October 9th, 2010 we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins for the season. We go over to Batesville to Vogt Farms off State Road 129. They have trollies pulled by horses to take you out to the patches. Very fun. They man even let Bayleigh ride up front with him on our way back from the patch. After getting our pumpkins we hit their petting zoo and pony rides!

Thanks for catching up with us! Hope you are doing well!

Pain leads to surgery....again!

Well! A lot has happened since my last post! So, LAST Thursday night after dinner I ended up having another attack. It completely took me by surprise because up til this point I had felt SO good. I felt way better than I had felt for a long time prior to surgery as well. Then after eating I ended up with the attack. I chalked it up to the dinner I had had and was able to get it under control with pain medicine. Then Friday night I was working late and also got to keep my nephew over night again. I was tired, but didn't feel bad. We got home and it was late so started to get ready for bed because Bayleigh and I had to be in Shelbyville with Melanie at 7 a.m. for the benefit walk for Brody Stephens. I noticed quickly after getting ready for bed that I wasn't feeling well. I immediately took a pain pill to try to keep it under control and it just never worked. The whole night is pretty much a blur. I remember at some point texting Melanie and telling her that I wasn't going to make it to the walk because of the attack. I never heard back from her. Finally, I woke Larry up and asked him to contact my mom to see if she would keep the kids while he took me to the E.R. I thought I'd just go get some pain meds in an IV and get to come home--WRONG!
We get to the E.R. around 8:30 or 9 a.m. and after blood work and waiting what felt like was FOREVER, but I am sure is exaggerated due to my pain levels, but anyways we go in and do a CT Scan and I believe some X-Rays and then at some point they decide that they are keeping me. Why? I had no clue. I was pretty messed up on pain medications at this point. I remember them getting me up to my room and being impressed with the size and privacy I had and I remember the nurses saying to Larry that they cannot believe I was still walking at this point, but that is basically it. Come to find out they decided to keep me for pain control and to figure out the source of the pain. I guess the scans were coming back OK to the average eye, but they were waiting for a more trained eye to read them to decide what was wrong. I know that my white blood cell counts were over 21 or 23,000 and the high end of normal is 10,000 so something was wrong, but it was just a matter of figuring out what.
Sunday rolls around--pretty much a blur. Pain, blood work, waiting...same story.
Monday rolls around--still terrible pain, an ultrasound of my gallbladder is ordered, more blood work, did I mention still in pain??? yeah! So, after the ultrasound Dr. Viera comes in and tells us that I have gallstones and need to have surgery. This is around 2 p.m. and he wanted me in surgery at 3! WOW, talk about getting the show on the road. Surgery ended up going well. He did say that the GB was FULL of stones and infection and puss. I came out of surgery with a drain tube sticking out of my side as well. GROSS! Mom said that Dr. Viera did say that had I waited until the next day to have the surgery I would have been in far worst shape. I am SO thankful that I was too miserable to eat that lunch tray I told them I was not allowed to eat. ((This is exactly 3 weeks to the day of the other surgery at I.U.))
Tuesday rolls around--I was still hurting so badly. My IV had blown so I probably would not have been so bad off if it had not been for that, but anyone that has dealt with pain knows that if you let it get away from you it's hard to get back under control. That evening another surgeon comes in and I explain my pain and ask about going home. He said that he would leave it up to me as to if I went home, BUT I was not the average GB surgery patient that when they got in there I was a MESS sooooo, he thought I should stay. SO, Stay I did. Luckily too because that night I ended up having an allergic reaction to my pain medicine and that had to be switched and Benedryl had to be givin to stop the buring and itching. :)
Wednesday rolls around--I am feeling MUCH better! I am actually hungry and ready to go home. YEAH! After having lunch I was able to be dismissed and able to come home.
So far things are going well. Each day I get better and better. My new pain medicine knocks me out very quickly, but as of right now--Friday at 2:35 p.m. I have had NO pain medicine today! :) I have a few appointments such as lab work, surgeon follow ups, family dr follow ups, and to have the drain tube removed in a couple weeks, but hopefully now I will be well on my way to feeling great! FOR GOOD THIS Time. :) Thank you again for for thoughts and prayers. Hopefully soon we can get onto more positive and much more fun blogs! :)Until then!
Love,
Jenn
